Sabudana Khichadi -3rd way

Hello Friends !

Sabudana = Tapioca pearls !

In my part of the world its still winter and I cant wait until spring arrive & move around in normal clothes without those heavy winter coats and jacket.

Sharing a recipe that you can prepare in a jiffy, no seriously , all you need is pre soaking of sabudana and this recipe will take just 10 -15 mins to put together.

Previously shared 2 separate ways to prepare them and this is the 3rd way.

* Often prepared during Fasting.

* A detox recipe.

* Lunch Box recipe.

* Kids or Beginners who are learning to cook, this is one of the recipe you can try .

The Ingredients are as short as the recipe is :- >>

+Sabudana - 1 Cup (While Buying look for white bright colored sabu)

+Green Chillies- 2-3 Or more Chopped( as per your taste)

+Pre Roasted Peanut Powder 1-2 Tbsp

+Salt 1/2 -1 Tsp

+Sugar 1 Tsp

+Red Chilli Powder 1/2 - 1 Tsp (As per your taste)

+Turmeric Powder 1/2-1 Tsp

+ Ghee 1 -2 Tbsp

+Coriander Leaves Few Chopped

+Cumin Seeds 1 Tsp

Method :-

1) Soak Sabudana either Overnight OR during the day 4-6 Hrs .

Reason :- All sabudana have different soaking duration.

Cooking TIP 1 :- To get SOFT sabudana !

This TIP is courtesy from my friend #RuanaShaikh :-

1) She says to add 1 tsp of yogurt while soaking sabudana O

2) you can sprinkle some MILK while cooking .

SOAKING TIP 2:-

While soaking sabudana , Make sure the water level should be 1 Inch above the sabudana and cover and let it rest .

2) Take a pan/ kadhai .

- Once hot enough ,add Ghee, Cumin Seeds -let it crackle .

-Chopped Green Chillies - Let it cook for 1-2 min.

-Then Add Turmeric powder,

Red Chilli Powder,

Salt and Sugar & combine everything well.

-And Put Off The Flame.

* The reason for putting off the flame at this moment is so that the Masala dont burn.

-NOW PUT ON THE FLAME.

-Add Sabudana & keep stirring continuously for 10 mins on medium -high flame until the sabudanas are cooked.

3) Then add ROASTED PEANUT POWDER & combine all well together.

COOKING TIP 3:-

Another Tip coming from my friend #BobbyMathew :-

Peanut Powder can be replaced with Almond Powder for the people who have allergy to peanuts.

And also can be prepared without adding any of those powder.

Without the peanut/ almond powder, it will be little sticking.

4) Add Chopped Coriander Leaves and combine all well together.

TADDDDAAA your Sabudana Khichadi is ready !

Serve it with a squeeze of lime juice OR sweet yogurt chutney or just like that...

Sweet Yogurt Recipe :-

Take 1 Tbsp of Yogurt + Any sweetner ( Honey, Sugar, Maple syrup or other.. ) Mix well !
